The AllEarth Renewables dual axis solar tracker uses awind speed sensor to measure local wind speed. In the event of high winds, the tracker is programmed to temporarily go into a horizontal stow position to protect itself against potential wind damage.
Snow on solar panels limits the panels’ ability to see the sun and therefore limits energy production. AllEarth dual axis solar trackers already have an advantage over fixed systems in that the trackers tilt verticallyat steeper angles than fixed systems, allowing for better snow shedding.
Arctic temperatures may reduce tracking accuracyand can potentially put extra strain on hydraulic components. As a precaution, the tracker is programmed to temporarily go flat into a horizontal stow position inextreme sub zero temperatures.
